This was our first year on our own for the 4th. We've always been in Utah with family and friends, so it was quite sad...But we tried to have fun and make the best of it. We tried hard not to think of all the family and friend get togethers we were missing out on all through the day.
We went out and bought some fireworks and lit off a few little ones in the backyard.
The snaps were super fun for Wyatt.
The tank startled Wyatt and I, so we were prepared the next time around. Wyatt loved the snake too :)
We invited a couple friends to come over for a BBQ.
(A Kansas BBQ in July has to be held inside. It's just WAY too hot to be out there in the heat! Zach and the guys BBQ outside in the heat, then they bring in the food. They sacrifice for us :) They all come in sweaty from the heat. Poor guys! We appreciate it though!)

After eating we decided to do all the fireworks early so the kids could go to bed. Are we lame or what?!
It would have been a lot cooler at night, literally :) But they liked it even in the day :)

After we put Wyatt to bed we hung out with our friends on our porch and watched all the awesome fireworks being lit off all around the city.
We had a fun time, even though it wasn't the same 4th we are used to ;)
